John Piper

John Stephen Piper is a theologian and pastor who is the founder and senior teacher of desiringGod.org, and chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
One of the most distinctive marks of Piper’s thought is what he calls Christian Hedonism.

The seminal work that set the stage for the influence of this way of thinking is Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist (1986). This is probably Piper’s most widely known book. He has said, “If you want to buy a Piper book, just get one. You don’t need the rest. I say the same thing in every book.

For 33 years, he served as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is author of more than 50 books, including Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist and most recently Providence.
